We are so excited to be walking in the 11th Annual Sojourner Truth Walk: Honoring Youth Leaders!

 

Walk Around Philadelphia creates cultural events that bring people together in shared  experiences that connect them to their own bodies, their neighbors, and the landscape of Philadelphia. The ~100+ mile walk around the entire city border happens twice a year in February & September, with other programs throughout the year.

 

This year, we're also inviting our perimeter walkers to join this walk to support Camp Sojourner, a nonprofit leadership program for Philadelphia girls/youth ages 8-18, which offers year-round leadership development including mentoring, service projects, creative arts, nature hikes, college tours, and a one-week overnight camp (girlsleadershipcamp.org).

 

Walk Around Philadelphia organizer JJ Tiziou has been following Camp Sojo's amazing work for over a decade (since 2011!) and several of his housemates have participated as camp counselors and board members.

 

Camp Sojourner helps Philadelphia girls/youth, regardless of their economic background, have the opportunity to take charge of their own lives and be agents of positive change in their communities. All programs are offered on a sliding scale, with significant scholarships.
