Anda is an expression in Spanish that means "to walk" or "to go" but commonly used as "Let's go!" or "Come on!"
OUR CAUSE
Join us on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 to run, walk, or simply cheer for HAVEN Free Clinic. Your registration fee and each dollar you raise enable us to provide quality, comprehensive wellness care to our patients in New Haven. Many barriers exist to accessing health insurance. Families may face low wages, difficult working conditions, and overwhelming medical debt. HAVEN fills a critical gap in the healthcare landscape by providing primary care, reproductive health care, social services, and education to these community members free of charge. We also serve as a bridge to the formal healthcare system, providing access to free specialty care and guiding eligible patients through the health insurance enrollment process. All proceeds from this event will support the HAVEN Free Clinic, a student-run primary care clinic that partners with Yale University to provide comprehensive primary care services to members of the New Haven community free-of-charge. The annual 5K race, our signature fundraising event, typically raises 70% of our total annual departmental budget.
ABOUT HAVEN FREE CLINIC
HAVEN Free Clinic has provided quality, comprehensive health care free-of-charge to uninsured adults living in New Haven for the past 21 years. As a student-run clinic, we educate and inspire the next generation of leaders in community health through direct clinical experience on a healthcare team, fostering a lifelong commitment to primary care. In partnership with Yale University, we fill a critical gap in our healthcare system by conducting over 1100 visits each year for individuals with nowhere else to turn. In 2022 alone, we cared for over 1,000 patients in the local community through more than 2,400 appointments. More than 250 health professions students collaborate in teams to support all aspects of our patients’ wellness, from reproductive health to nutrition counseling to legal assistance.
