Pediatric tumors have distinct biology and require different treatments than tumors in adults. This is especially true for brain and spinal cord tumors. That is why it is important that children with brain tumors are treated at a center that specializes in treating childhood cancer, such as Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has one of the nation’s largest pediatric brain tumor programs. Our team includes some of the field’s most respected clinicians and researchers. Thus, our patients benefit from today’s best therapies and innovative options, some of which can only be found at our center.
Since its inception in 1901, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) has become one of the nation’s leading academic hospitals dedicated to treating children with medically complex diseases and injuries. Its mission: creating hope and building healthier futures. In the previous year, CHLA treated more than 121,000 children in over 620,000 patient visits.
CHLA’s Cancer and Blood Disease Institute (CBDI) has been saving lives and working to improve cure rates of children with cancer through exceptional care, innovative research, and academic excellence for nearly six decades. Last year, the CBDI treated 6,000 patients and completed approximately 33,500 outpatient visits. Further, it conducted extensive research across 157 clinical trials and 808 clinical trials enrollments. Recently, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the CBDI as the top pediatric hematology/oncology program in California and the western United States and No. 5 in the nation. The Institute has been continuously ranked in the top ten every year since these rankings were launched in 2008.
The Brain Tumor Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is here for providing the best and most comprehensive care for our patients. It does so through a patient- and family-centered Team Approach that encompasses comprehensive testing and advanced techniques, along with innovative and state-of-the-art treatments.
