I am thrilled to be participating in NCAN’s 2024 Strides for Stripes Zebra Walk! For over 20 years, NCAN has been a beacon of hope for cancer patients, providing crucial support and resources. This cause is incredibly important to me and holds a special place in my heart.

 

I was diagnosed almost a year ago with a neuroendocrine tumor (Net) in my colon, discovered during a routine colonoscopy. I had surgery to remove the tumor in my colon and lymph nodes. The surgery was successful, but the tumor had already spread to my liver.

 

A blessing out of all of this is that, even though I am at stage 4, NETS often grow slowly. My life has certainly changed, but I am feeling well and am hopeful that a cure will be found for this disease, perhaps extending my life. I plan to walk 2 miles every day in November, which is Neuroendocrine Awareness Month.
