I am so excited to be participating in 11th Annual Sojourner Truth Walk: Honoring Youth Leaders!
Money raised for this walk will support Camp Sojourner, a nonprofit leadership program for Philadelphia girls/youth ages 8-18, which offers year-round leadership development including mentoring, service projects, creative arts, nature hikes, college tours, and a one-week overnight camp (girlsleadershipcamp.org).
Alisha Berry is the camp Director. We met at Penn a thousand years ago when we were undergrads. She had a dream then of starting this camp. She did it!! She is a powerhouse of a leader who keeps the eyes of her heart focused where they are most needed: on young people who are in need of opportunities and support in order to grow into the leaders they are here to become.
Camp Sojourner helps Philadelphia girls/youth, regardless of their economic background, have the opportunity to take charge of their own lives and be agents of positive change in their communities. All programs are offered on a sliding scale, with significant scholarships.
Please consider joining me for this event. I'll be on Zoom because I live in Berkeley, CA now. We could Zoom in together, or you could walk in person if you are in Philly and we can FaceTime as you walk. Either way, I would be delighted for you to join me or sponsor me. Help support Philly girls/youth! We'll have a great time lifting youth together!!!!
Funds raised through the Sojourner Truth Walk will be used to provide scholarships for girls/youth to go to camp, and to help fund our free year-round creative arts, food justice, and leadership activities.
