Camp Sojourner sleep-away camp is a special experience for Cece, Ynez, and 60 other girls, every year. They spend a week away from the world where they are considered to be "only childeren" and enter a world where they are treated like strong, amazing, leaders-in-training. At camp they are surrounded by women who believe in them and lift them up to be their full, loud, creative selves.

 

The people that make-up camp SOJO center the idea that black and brown girls are the future and they create a community that supports this through free year-round activities and education. This community means the world to us and the fact that this slice of humanity exists is proof that we can create a better world.
