As someone who was shaped by going to summer camp, I was immediately drawn to Camp SoJo from the first event I attended in 2012. From my own summer camp experience, I learned so much about myself, developed leadership skills and nurtured lifelong friendships and it felt so meaningful to "pay-it-forward" to the young people in my community. That's why I am so excited to be walking in the 12th Annual Sojourner Truth Walk: We the People... Stand Together! Money raised for this walk will support Camp Sojourner, a nonprofit leadership program for Philadelphia girls/youth ages 8-18, which offers year-round leadership development including mentoring, service projects, creative arts, nature hikes, college tours, and a one-week overnight camp (girlsleadershipcamp.org). Camp Sojourner helps Philadelphia girls/youth, regardless of their economic background, have the opportunity to take charge of their own lives and be agents of positive change in their communities. All programs are offered on a sliding scale, with significant scholarships. Please consider joining me for this event and walking in the streets of West Philadelphia to celebrate girls/youth leaders. Or sponsor me, and help support Philly girls/youth!
