Jeff Rueb was diagnosed with glioblastoma, stage 4 brain cancer, in November 2015. He beat the odds for surgery recovery when he worked hard at physical therapy to get home to us in only 7 days, they expected him to be there 2 weeks or more. As a claustrophobic, he spent 30 days in daily radiation therapy wearing a face hugging mask, two rounds of cyberknife radiation and 10 months wearing show full storyelectrodes on his head that burned his skin, and he endured countless MRIs all to gain just a little more time on earth with his family. Jeff lost his battle in December of 2017, but he gave it all he had up until the very end. To say we are lucky seems strange, but we are so lucky that he came out of the first, and only, surgery as a whole person. His memories were intact, and his personality was unchanged. He had some mobility impairment, but he overcame that with the PT. Not every person that undergoes brain surgery or brain tumors is as lucky as Jeff was. Many people come out of brain tumors with complications from the location of the brain that was worked on. This is why we walk and will continue to walk. To continue the research that Jeff helped start by being the first patient his radiation oncologist had treated that wore Optune and had 3 separate rounds of radiation. He was strong and she was confident that he was a great candidate to try it. We walk for the next great candidate and for a cure for this disease. Please help us find a cure for brain cancer.
