I am so excited to be participating in the Desert Gray Matters 5K. Money raised from this event will be used for brain tumor research.
Today nearly 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor, and more than 69,000 others will be diagnosed this year. Brain tumors are often deadly, impact quality of life, and change everything for patients and their loved ones.
In October 2016, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor which is blocking the release of cerebral fluid. I had surgery to install a shunt to drain the excess fluid but have a couple more surgeries in my future. I am glad to be alive and hope to have some more years yet.
