Mat Designation: We are Changing the Story, Protecting Women From Cancer By Empowering Providers
Our Story:
300,000 new cases were diagnosed. More than half in late stages. Studies have shown that women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in particular, have had the disease for more than 24 months and have seen more than 4 doctors of varying specialties, with no diagnosis. The signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer whisper, are vague and are easily ignored. There is a strong correlation between Breast and Ovarian Cancers and providers being well educated about these diseases, will be unequivocally equip to identify high risk patients, and prevent the cancers.
How We're Changing the Story:
The MAT Designation is a rigorous course, coupled with an exam that was created for the non-oncology provider. This course provides depth of information on breast cancer, ovarian cancer, family history, genetics, the links between the cancers, what to look for and how to effectively screen your patients. Once a provider passes the exam and becomes MAT Designated, they are well equip to care for their female patient – and ensure she is protected from breast and ovarian cancer. The MAT Organization is fiercely committed to diligently teaching and supporting the providers, where the symptoms of ovarian cancer may present. These specialties include but are not limited to: Gastroenterology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Chiropractor, Gynecology, Integrative Health, Emergency Room Medicine and Pathology. For the remainder of 2019, courses are being offered in various Connecticut locations and New York City.
