MY STORY
What a difference a year makes!!

With gratitude I am thrilled to share that I am now 12 months post chemotherapy, my recent scans remain cancer free, and I continue to qualify for and take an oral chemotherapy maintenance drug.

I am also so thrilled to be returning home from a long overdue visit back to Australia to see Mum & Dad and celebrate Mum’s 80th birthday.

These are incredible milestones considering the high incidence of recurrence of ovarian cancer in the first 2 years.

I continue to be so grateful to each one of you for your love, support, and generosity through this entire journey. Our family is especially grateful for your support this past year as Doug navigated his concurrent  cancer journey for oral cancer undergoing extensive surgery and radiation this past year.

Ovarian Cancer is known as the “Whispering Cancer”, typically undetected until late stage as in my diagnosis. I am so grateful to my gynecological oncology team at the Smilow Cancer Center, Yale New Haven Hospital.

The recurrence rate for ovarian cancer is around 80%. However, that varies by stage and cancer type.

On going clinical research and clinical trials are desperately needed to develop targeted therapies and immunotherapy for Ovarian cancer recurrences.

Sunday, May 5 is the Discovery to Cure for Women’s Reproductive Cancers, Yale New Haven Festival in Orange, Connecticut.

This is the largest annual fundraiser for Discover to Cure to raise much needed funds for reproductive cancer research at the Yale School of Medicine.

Your tax deductible donations and any company/corporate matching are invaluable to this cause.

It is imperative that we continue to bring attention and raise funds for the early detection and prevention of women's reproductive cancers. Money raised from this event will be used for helping to create continued provider education, early detection protection programs, personalized care & cutting edge research for cure and prevention of women’s reproductive cancers.

Any amount you are comfortable with or able to contribute would be so appreciated.

My heartfelt gratitude.

With love,
