Hello friends,
In August of 2013 my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After tests it was found she had a mutation in the BRCA gene. Once this was found out my brother, parents and I also were tested. I too tested positive for the BRCA 1 mutation. I did what I needed to do and had my ovaries removed. With all research made possible from generous donors i was able to the screening I needed to keep me healthy. As I got older my drs were more concerned of my health due to family history and my medical history. In October 2017 I had a double mastectomy with diep reconstruction. I didn’t have the easiest time medically, emotionally or physically but with support on top of research and funding to help me I got through it. My life has changed in many ways, as has my families. Discovery to Cure has helped us so much with out reach programs, learning and helping so many. My sister is now on her 4th go around with cancer but she is not letting it stop her. Not now nor ever! With the help of all of you we can make a difference. Not just in my families lives but all women. Women reproductive cancers are silent until they come out. Please help by sponsoring me so all together we can fight the battles and ultimately win the war!
Funds raised will be going to Discovery To Cure, a program of the Yale School of Medicine. Money will be used toward helping to create continued provider education, early detection protection programs, personalized care & cutting edge research for cure and prevention of women’s reproductive cancers.
