2. What are the Race Options and Schedules?
There are three race, USATF-certified route, options and all runs will take place rain or shine:
Half Marathon: 8:00 am sharp
10K: 8:30 am sharp 5K Run/Walk: 9:30 am sharp 3. What Does Pledging to the Run Mean, Exactly?
By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to enhance the quality of life for children, teens and adults with special needs.
We are dedicated to this underserved population and all proceeds raised from the Run will allow us to build on the 70-plus monthly programs we currently offer. With your support, we can make a difference and teach people in our community with special needs the life skills and vocational abilities they need to live more productive, meaningful lives.
We wish you all the success possible. Train, set and achieve new goals, enjoy the race… and get all the sponsors you can, so when you cross that finish line, we will all be winners – you, and all the people with special needs and disabilities in our community that need our help!
4. How can my sponsors submit payment?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the runner’s personalized page found on our website at. Just make sure to tell your sponsors to select your name from the list of runners. They can also send a check to. Please make sure that sponsors write your name on the check so that we can ensure that you are given credit for the donation.
5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise the required funds. Will I be able to do it?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters in our Runner’s Kit, found in the Contact Us section, that explains the incredible programs the Run supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.
6. Is the Run only for Runners?
No! The Run is designed as a day of fun and fitness for the whole family. It attracts more than 800 runners from the tri-state area and as far away as Canada each year, but it is also attended by thousands of family members and friends and supporters from the community who look forward to it as a fun and exciting community gathering.
In addition to the races, the Run features a free brunch, a kids carnival from 9:30-11:30 am; free babysitting from 7:00 am – noon, music and more. Runners enjoy additional benefits that include pre-race stretches and warm-ups led by professional fitness staff, precision race-recording, free tee-shirts and other great giveaways; trophies for the top three winners in each age category, medals for child runners under 10 and more.
7. Do You Run Alone or as a Team?
Either! Participants can run alone or create their own team of four or more to run a USATF-certified route through a relatively flat course along the tree-lined streets of Tenafly, Englewood and Englewood Cliffs.

8. I have never run a race. Will I be able to finish a half or full marathon? Absolutely! It might take a little training and coaching, but many of our participants are first-timer runners. Whether you are a novice, signed up for our 5K run/walk, or a serious athlete running our 10 K or half marathon, we will be here to inspire you every step of the way. Our Health and Recreation Department is offering a Running Clinic and Sports Club, led by professional athletes, as well as private coaching. We are also offering other motivational programs to help you train, attain new fitness goals, and build endurance, so you can maximize your performance.
And on the day of the Race, you can take part in pre-race stretches and warm-ups led by our professional fitness staff. Our hope is to inspire you to achieve ultimate “personal wellness” and, at the same time, participate in a competitive and family friendly athletic event that will allow you to spend meaningful time together with family and friends.
9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Race registration fees are not refundable.
10. Is parking available? Please note that the parking lot will be available throughout the morning with intermittent closings before each race. Please allow sufficient time for parking and registration. |
