I am participating in the 7th Walk to End FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). Money raised from this event will be used to support the Lisa C. Bruch Scholarship Fund to help educate girls in West Africa, which will help prevent the continuation of FGM.  The funds will also support the Sanitary Pads Campaign for girls in West Africa, and will help GWPF send survivors of FGM to restorative surgery.  Female genital mutilation is the intentional removal of either all or part of the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons.  Many girls die daily as a result of FGM.  85% of maternal and infant mortality in Africa is the result of FGM.  Now, FGM is being practiced here on American soil in many states.  We want it stopped in the world, and most importantly in the United States.
