Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 and social distancing, this year’s event will be held virtually through livestream broadcast and social media. Instead of 5K, walkers may choose the number of miles/kilometers to walk and have sponsors match a dollar amount.

It is estimated that over a half million women and girls are at risk for or have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) here in the United States. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 200 Million women and girls worldwide have experienced FGM. We will be celebrating and honoring individuals who have worked tirelessly on prevention, protection, education, and care. For awardees, please click "2020 Awardees" from the Home Page.
The event will be live streamed via video conferencing. The live stream link will be provided the week of the event. Participants will be expected to arrive at between 2:30pm (1430) and 3:00pm (1500) Washington, D.C./New York Time. The event will commence at 3:00pm, followed by the keynote address. The awards ceremony, silent auction, and entertainment will follow, and the evening will conclude at approximately 5:30pm (1730) Washington, D.C./New York Time, with closing remarks from our respected event coordinators.
On Saturday, October 17, 2020, the pre-walk program will begin at 10:00am Washington, D.C./New York Time, followed by the virtual walk at 11:30am Washington, D.C./New York Time. The Walk will begin from wherever you are in the world. Please remember to wear a purple shirt. If you have attended our walk in the past and you possess a purple shirt, please wear that shirt as you walk in your community/neighborhood.
