I am participating in the 7th Walk to End FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). Money raised from this event will be used to support the Lisa C. Bruch Scholarship Fund to help educate girls in Liberia and Sierra Leone, which will help prevent the continuation of FGM.  Did you know that it only takes $100 a year to keep a girl in school in Liberia?

 

The funds will also support the Sanitary Pads Campaign for girls in West Africa, and will help GWPF send survivors of FGM to restorative surgery.  Did you know that many girls miss school each month due to lack of sanitary pads?  Your funds will help them have access to sanitary products. 

 

Female genital mutilation is the intentional removal of either all or part of the external female genitalia for non-medical reasons.  Many girls die daily as a result of FGM.  Now, FGM is being practiced here on American soil in many states.
