There are 200 million survivors of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM.) 44 Million are under 14 years old! 3.9 million girls are a risk each year. I've made a film to give a voice show full storyto girls whose voices have not been heard in a thousand years and who are standing up against FGM.--see www.inthenameofyourdaughterfilm.com And next Saturday October 27th I'm participating in the Walk to End Female Genital Mutilation to raise awareness and money to help Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation open a special center for women, girls, parents and the community. Female genital mutilation is the intentional removal of the female genitalia for non-medical reasons. Many girls die daily as a result of FGM. 85% of maternal and infant mortality in Africa is the result of FGM. We want FGM stopped everywhere in the world, including Western countries like Canada--where I'm from--and the United States where it is also an issue. Please help by sponsoring me.
Our goal this year is to raise at least $15,000. When you sponsor this year's event your sponsorship dollars or product will help the Lisa C. Bruch Scholarship Fund for girls in West Africa to prevent the continuation of female genital mutilation. The scholarship fund was named in memory of the late Lisa Bruch, a dedicated Board Advisor and Donor of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation. Thank you!
