WHAT: 5k Run/Walk
WHEN: May 14, 2016
Packet pick up begins at 7:30 a.m.
Race begins at 9:00 a.m.
ENTRY FEES:
Ages 16 & up: $25 (will receive a t-shirt)
Ages 5-15: $15 (will receive a t-shirt)
Under 5: No charge
Ghost Runner: $20 (will not run/walk, but will receive a t-shirt)
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finisher overall. Medals will be awarded for the top three males and females in the following age categories: under 16, 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, 66+.
WHERE: West Boggs Park, Loogootee, IN 47553. West Boggs Park is accessed from US Highway 231, approximately 3 miles north of Loogootee. There is a $6 per vehicle entrance fee to enter the park. COURSE DESCRIPTION: We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to use Boggs Park for Carter's 5K! It will be a challenging walk/run due to the hills inside the park. I think everyone will enjoy the lake front and other scenes involved in the route.
We will begin at the entry way of the beach area parking which will be the start/finish line. The walk/run will proceed towards the park gate, climbing the first hill. Turning right at the stop sign, it will proceed to the entrance of the one-way circle which goes around a picnic/playground area and by the boat docking. After going around the circle, the route will take a left at the stop sign which goes back up a hill towards the gate. At the top is a stop sign where it will take a left turn down the first hill that was climbed. Proceeding to the next stop, will take a right turn heading into the campgrounds. Then the route will proceed to a lane on the right, named Bobcat. Continuing to follow the lane, the route will come out onto the main road where it will go by lakefront scenery and up a small hill to a stop sign. At this point, the route will turn right heading towards the beach where the start/finish line is located.
