Carter's Legacy Happenings
A Bit About Carter's Legacy: All money raised from the 5K goes to the Carter Lee Kerns Memorial Fund. The fund is an endowment fund and is held and managed by the Martin County Community Foundation (MCCF). An endowment fund is designed to go on forever...really, forever. Each year a small portion of the fund (usually the interest, a percentage of the interest or a very small portion of the principal) is allowed to be donated. The first donation from the Carter Lee Kerns Memorial Fund will happen this year!! We are excited to be able to participate in the selection process. We are also happy to support Martin County children and families for years to come. Stay tuned to this page for the happenings.
January 2016 - We have learned that the first distribution of the Carter Lee Kerns Memorial Fund will be available to be donated to a non-profit organization in Martin County. Stay tuned for more information. The Carter Lee Kerns Scholarship will also be available to a Martin County high school student again this year.
May 2015 - Thank you SO MUCH to all the people who came out and participated in the 2015 Carter's Legacy 5k. It was a great day! We had exactly 200 people (over 5 years old) register to walk/run. Lots more people came out to volunteer or cheer on the runners/walkers. A big congratulations to all the runners and walkers for braving Boggs' hills. Thanks so much for all the support!
May 2015 - The first Carter Lee Kerns Memorial Scholarship was given to Allie Walker. Congratulations Allie!
