There is only one walk. It will take place rain or shine:

  • 4:30PM - 5:30PM: Assemble at Columbus Park in Brooklyn, NY to sign in and engage in activities

  • 5:30PM: Bathroom / Food break

  • 6:00PM: Walk begins on Adams Street

  • 7:00PM - 7:30PM: We congregate at the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall steps in Columbus Park in a flameless candle light ceremony

3. What Does Pledging to the Walk Mean, Exactly?

By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to enhance the quality of life for mothers, fathers, and siblings of perinatal or infant loss.

We are dedicated to this underserved community and all proceeds raised from the #goPINKandBLUE Walk will allow The Baby Resource Center to build on our: Awareness Campaigns, Grief Counseling Services, Bereavement Grants, Healing Packets, Empty Arms Booklets, all of which help us to prevent more preventable stillbirths and serve families of loss in our community. With your support, we can make a difference with mental health and the ripple of effects that depression weighs on families in these situations. With your support we can possibly save lives and begin to heal people who would otherwise suffer in silence.

We wish you all the success possible. This is a short walk with long lasting effects. As you set and achieve new goals, enjoy the exercise and the view… and get all the sponsors you can, so when you end the walk, we will all be winners – you, and all the people in our community that need our help!

4. How can my sponsors submit payment?

Online contributions can be made by credit card on the Participant’s personalized page found on our website here. Just make sure to tell your sponsors to select your name from the list of participants.

5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise the required funds. Will I be able to do it?

Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals. Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the programs the Walk supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause. Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! And, as many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.

6. Is the Walk only for Families of loss?

No! The Walk is designed as a day of honor and motivation towards healing for families affected by perinatal and infant loss. It attracts people who are empathetic to the cause from all over the tri-state area each year, as well as, family members and friends and supporters from the community who look forward to it as a memorable and encouraging community gathering.

7. Do You Walk Alone or as a Team?

Either! Participants can walk alone or create their own team to walk with on the scenic Brooklyn Bridge.

8. How long does it take to get over the Brooklyn Bridge. Will I be able to finish?

Absolutely! Many of our participants are first-timers and are at different fitness levels. We will be here to inspire you every step of the way. We encourage you to walk stairs in preparation of the Walk, as there is a slight incline. Depending on your level of fitness, this walk is a breeze, not a hike. Most of us stroll and take about 45-60 minutes to walk half way and loop back around. If your goal is faster, pick up those elbows and rock on. Please just remember to wave at the cameras while you are pushing toward your motivation. We want to document that glorious moment, with your permission of course. Please note that it can get chilly up there on the bridge.  Plan ahead and bring a jacket or sweater so that you can enjoy your walk.

9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?

Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Walk registration fees are not refundable.

10. Is parking available?

There is street parking and metered parking. If you are a New Yorker and understand those lovely street signs, try your luck at parking. Otherwise, you can park in a Parking Garage. Please allow sufficient time for parking and registration. We may have a limited amount of parking spaces available to participants on a first come, first served basis.
