3. What Does Pledging to the Walk Mean, Exactly?
By committing to this event, and pledging to raise money for its success, you are helping raise invaluable funds to assist with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

We are dedicated to this underserved population and all proceeds raised from the walk will allow us to distribute funds in New Orleans and surrounding areas. With your support, we can make a difference and bring about awareness in our community pertaining to increased statistics surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault.

We wish you all the success possible. Train, set and achieve new goals, enjoy the walk… and get all the sponsors you can, so when you cross that finish line, we will all be winners – you, and all the people who endure the abuse of domestic violence and sexual assault!

4. How can my sponsors submit payment?
Online contributions can be made by credit card on the walkers’s personalized page found on our website at www.wizathon.com/jrainwalk.  Just make sure to tell your sponsors to select your name from the list of walkers.

5. I am concerned that I might not be able to raise the required funds. Will I be able to do it?
Even if you've never raised money before, our materials and strategies will make it easy for you to solicit and collect sponsorships from friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and others. Experience has shown that it is not only possible, but enjoyable, to set and reach your goals.  Please refer to the sample letters found on your personal fundraising page center, that explains the  causes the walk supports, and you will be surprised to see how quickly friends, family, and co-workers will respond to your request to help this wonderful cause.  Just remember to make it personal as well, as you want them to know that they are sponsoring YOU and YOUR efforts! Also, many companies offer charitable donation matching programs, make sure to ask your sponsors to check with their employers, as it will help you meet your goal ever more quickly.

6. Is the Walk only for Walkers?
No! The walk is designed as a day of fun and fitness for the whole family. We anticipate attracting more than 300 walkers from the New Orleans and surrounding areas and as far away as Texas each year, but it will also be attended by many family members, friends, and supporters from the community who look forward to it as a fun and exciting community gathering.

In addition to the walk, it will feature food, music and much more.  Walkers enjoy additional benefits that include pre-walk stretches and warm-ups led by professional fitness staff, free tee-shirts and other great giveaways.

7. Do You Walk Alone or as a Team?
Either! Participants can walk alone or create their own team to walk the relatively flat course along the tree-lined streets.

8. I have never walked in a walk-a-thon.  Will I be able to finish?
Absolutely! It might take a little training and coaching, but many of our participants are first-time walkers.  Whether you are a novice, signed up for our walk, or a serious athlete walking, we will be here to inspire you every step of the way.

On the day of the walk, you can take part in pre-walk stretches and warm-ups led by our professional fitness staff. Our hope is to inspire you to achieve ultimate “personal wellness” and, at the same time, participate in a family friendly athletic event that will allow you to spend meaningful time together with family and friends.

9. Is there a refund/exchange policy?
Yes. If a donation was made accidentally or for the wrong amount, simply make us aware of the issue and we will be happy to make any necessary refunds, changes or corrections. Walk registration fees are not refundable.

10. Is parking available?
Please note that adequate street parking will be available throughout the morning with intermittent closings before the walk starts. Please allow sufficient time for parking and registration.
