About the Founder ~Joan Cooper Rainey:
 
Joan Cooper-Rainey is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Oliver Perry Walker High School, the University of Mobile (Mobile, Alabama) and Dillard University.  She is the wife of Oscar J.D. Rainey and the mother of four children (Octavia Taylor, Ted Taylor, IV, Kailyn Rainey, and Kelsey Rainey).
 
She is a critical care nurse by profession and wears many titles.  She works as a registered nurse in the emrgency room at Interim Louisiana Hospital, also known as University or Charity Hospitals.  She is also a Forensic Nurse that specializes in Sexual/Domesitc Assaults.
 
Joan has been selected as the Mardi Gras Queen (2016) for "The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale" where her goal is to carry out the overall mission of the organization, which is to offer women of all creeds and colors a unique opportunity to promote and support New Orleans’ cultural landscape through participation in the annual Mardi Gras season, while uplifting the community through various endeavors of engagement, awareness and social enhancement in order to further the growth of the organization. The plight of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault is a very important cause that is near and dear to her heart and during her reign, she will constantly bring about awareness to this underserved cause!
