About Coats For Cold Kids:
Visions of the land of Israel often conjure up images of a country on the Mediterranean Sea that is always warm, where the existence of winter is hard to imagine. In reality, however, the people of the Middle East often experience cold winters with rain, and in areas of higher elevations snow. During winter months, thousands of Israeli children suffer without basic essentials, like a winter coat, to protect against the cold. It is hard to imagine in today’s day and age yet there are children shivering in the winter cold because the child’s family literally cannot afford a coat. Thousands of families suffer from this extreme poverty, and so COATS FOR COLD KIDS, an initiative of The Leeba Gavriella Fund for the Needy, is tackling this problem head on. Based on Lois’ mantra of always watching out for the underprivileged and needy, and armed with her lifelong concern and desire to take action on their behalf, we created COATS FOR COLD KIDS. Our goal is to raise $60,000 this year, to purchase as many winter coats as possible for the thousands of children ages 5-15 who lack them. Next time you walk outside in the cold, and protectively bundle up, please remember that for some there is no keeping warm. PLEASE HELP US CHANGE THAT! Since we are a very lean organization with only 1 employee and no offices a contribution of $30 allows us to purchase each coat. Again, only $30 can change a young person's life and self image.
